Barley and Buttermilk (Melkepap)

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup pot or pearl barley, pot is better.
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 litre of 1% Buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Directions

  • Place barley in medium-sized pot and cover with water.
  • Bring to a boil and reduce to simmer.
  • Keep barley covered with water and simmer for 1-1/2 hours.
  • Add raisins for last 10 minutes.
  • When done the water should be almost completely gone and the barley will be creamy.
  • Add the sugar and buttermilk and mix thoroughly.
  • Store in a 2 litre container.
